The Motorist Assurance Program - A Historical PerspectiveThe Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) was established in 1996 as an effort to address concerns raised by regulators, the media and consumers concerning automotive repair practices. To address those concerns, MAP was formed as a not-for-profit consumer-oriented trade association – and one of the industry's only efforts to set communication standards aimed at improving the auto repair experience by using Uniform Inspection and Communication Standards (UICS’s) between consumers and their auto repair shop. MAP’s aim is to improve communications between auto repair customers and repair facilities' personnel. The Motorist Assurance Program works cooperatively and proactively with consumer groups and government agencies toward solutions that both benefit the consumer and are mutually acceptable to both regulators and industry. We maintain the belief that industry must retain control over how we conduct our business, and we must be viewed as part of the solution and not part of the problem. AMRA is very proud of its Motorist Assurance Program, MAP Participating Facility Program and MAP Qualified Technician Program. To find one of over 9,000 MAP Participating facilities with a MAP Qualified Technician go to MAP Qualified Technician Search For additional information about AMRA and its consumer communication programs, please contact Barry Soltz, President, at (703)532-2027. And remember to check the MAP website at http://www.motorist.org/. We look forward to working with you in the future. |
